  • Tammy Chastain, DVM, Practice Owner

    Dr. Tamara (Tammy) Chastain earned her veterinary degree in 2003 from Purdue University.  She spent her first five years of practice in Sheridan, Indiana focusing on equine and small animal medicine.  She joined Alexandria Animal Hospital in 2008.  In early 2016, she had the opportunity to fulfill a long-time dream of becoming a practice owner and purchased Alexandria Animal Hospital from Dr. Larry Owen.   Tammy grew up in Sullivan, Indiana and now lives in the Summitville area with her husband, and their three sons.  Labrador Retriever (Colt), cats (Puddin', Peanut Butter, Snickers, and Oreo), and Arabian horses (Chip and Tilly) round out their family. 

    Outside of work, Dr. Chastain keeps busy caring for her boys and helping her husband with the family farm.  She is also active in her church where she sings in the praise team, participates in the drama team, and helps with children's Sunday school.  When she is lucky enough to find free time, she enjoys riding and showing her horses, hiking, fishing, and other outdoor activities.

  • Megan Phelps, DVM

    Dr. Megan Phelps grew up locally in Farmland, IN and attended Purdue University for both her undergraduate and veterinary degree's.  After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Phelps moved to Virginia and practiced medicine there for three years before returning to Indiana in the summer of 2005 to work at Alexandria Animal Hospital.  Currently, Dr. Phelps lives with her two cats (Newton and Copernicus) as well as her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Georgia.  As far as her human family is concerned, Dr. Phelps is the proud aunt of Ethan and Sophia Mortonson.

  • Teresa (Williams) Morris, Receptionist

    Teresa has a huge heart and loves to help both people and animals.  After graduating from AMHS, she quickly became a CNA and enjoyed caring for nursing home patients.  Teresa came to the AAH in 1992 and has become known as a helping face at the reception desk.  She takes great pride in decorating the clinic for the different seasons.  Taking a brief leave from the clinic to have a family, she loves to spoil her 3 daughters and 5 grandchildren.  She enjoys arrowhead hunting and fishing.  Teresa shares her home with 1 personality filled cat, 5 dogs including 3 shar-pei mix puppies, and a 55 gallon fish tank that has an Oscar and several cichlids.

  • Alexis Bassett, RVT, Inventory Manager

    Alexis began in the veterinary field while in high school job shadowing her family mixed-practice veterinarian.  During college she gained experience working at different clinics & businesses working as a kennel attendant, vet assistant, and a pre-groomer.    Originally from Michigan, she moved here as a youngster and graduated from AMHS.  After studying at Purdue University, Alexis joined the staff at AAH in 2002 and became a licensed RVT in 2012.  Living in Alexandria with her husband Chris of over 17 years and 3 children, she enjoys gardening and spending time with the many critters in their ‘mini zoo’.  Horses, goats, emus, turkeys, ducks, chickens, a pot-bellied pig as well as 3 dogs and 3 cats all call Bassett Family Farm home!

  • Jean Rice, Kennel Attendant

    Jean loves her job and is great with our patients and boarding pets!  She says that getting to take care of pets is a dream come true for her and can't imagine a better position to have.  At home she spends a lot of time outside with her 4 dogs.  She loves to garden, harvest, and can everything.  She enjoys having family dinners and cookouts.  After 30 years her husband's family is her family.

  • Debbie Reeves, Receptionist

    Debbie has worked in Customer Service for 20+ years.  She has combined this experience with her love for animals and has become part of our amazing front desk team!  Debbie lives in Elwood with her  husband, Dave, her two dogs- Carlos and Lucky, and her cat- Miss Kitty.

    Debbie enjoys volunteering at her local shelter and is a member of the Heart of Hoosierland Animal Shelter Board.  She spends her free time cooking, gardening, and spending her time with her family and her two grandkids.

  • Danyel Forrer, Receptionist

    Danyel grew up in a very small town in Illinois, moved here, and graduated from Noblesville High School.  She couldn't wait to be back in a small town, so when she got married to her loving husband, Anthony, they moved to Frankton and plan on staying there forever.  They share the house with their fur children: 2 dogs (Duke and Leila), 1 cat (Callie), 1 guinea pig (Alvin), and a beta fish (Buzz).  In her free time she enjoys riding four wheelers, fishing, camping, spending time with family and binge watching Netflix.  She says she has always been known as "That crazy animal lady" and says that's just fine with her.

  • Karla Hunt, Veterinary Assistant/Kennel Attendant

    Karla was raised in Fishers, and moved to the rural Elwood/Frankton area in 1995.  She shares her mini-farm home with her husband of 30 years, Dan, and 6 four-legged kids (subject to change at any time!)  She has 2 sons, 1 daughter, and 2 precious granddaughters.  Her favorite time is spent with her family (both 2 and 4 legged) and at church where she helps with the youth and other special activities.  In her spare time, she loves drawing, painting, crafts, gardening, and taking care of animals.  After spending the last 17 years in education, she is finally living her dream of learning veterinary care and getting to take care of animals for a living.  She plans to take veterinary technician classes and earn her degree.

  • Clint Peacock

    We are proud to have Clint back with us for a second summer.  He is a student at Purdue University and recently learned he has gained admission to veterinary school as part of the class of 2022.  He is excellent help here at the clinic and has worn several hats, spending time as a veterinary assistant, receptionist and kennel attendant.  In his spare time Clint enjoys raising show pigs and following their success in the show ring.

  • Kristen Cleaver

    Kristen is a high school student at Madison Grant.  We are fortunate to have her part time help in the kennel area during busy holiday and break times when the boarding facility is full.  She has an interest in pursuing a career in veterinary medicine or animal science.  She is very bright young woman, and we are confident she will excel in these pursuits.

  • Kendall Wolf, Kennel Attendant

    Kendall grew up in a city in Michigan and moved here in June, 2018.  She resides in Frankton with her boyfriend and has two dogs, Spot and Sox (both lab mixes).  In her spare time she likes to go to the gym, play sports, camp, and spend time with family.  She currently attends college and is studying to be a radiologist technician specializing in radiation therapy.

  • Sabrina Bailey, Reception, Kennel Attendant

    Sabrina grew up in Eaton, IN and has lived in Alexandria for about six years.  She is happily married to Ty, and together they have four children (Austin, Reanna, Prestyn, and Skyla.)  She is a lover of all animals big and small.  She has two pitbulls (Sedona and Django), a rat terrier (Bailee), a black cat (Oreo), and two fish tanks.  In her spare time she enjoys golfing, woodworking, and collecting antique toys.
