  • Tammy Chastain, DVM, Practice Owner

    Dr. Tamara (Tammy) Chastain earned her veterinary degree in 2003 from Purdue University.  She spent her first five years of practice in Sheridan, Indiana focusing on equine and small animal medicine.  She joined Alexandria Animal Hospital in 2008.  In early 2016, she had the opportunity to fulfill a long-time dream of becoming a practice owner and purchased Alexandria Animal Hospital from Dr. Larry Owen.   Tammy grew up in Sullivan, Indiana and now lives in the Summitville area with her husband, and their three sons.  Labrador Retriever (Colt), cats (Puddin', Peanut Butter, Snickers, and Oreo), and Arabian horses (Chip and Tilly) round out their family. 

    Outside of work, Dr. Chastain keeps busy caring for her boys and helping her husband with the family farm.  She is also active in her church where she sings in the praise team, participates in the drama team, and helps with children's Sunday school.  When she is lucky enough to find free time, she enjoys riding and showing her horses, hiking, fishing, and other outdoor activities.

  • Megan Phelps, DVM

    Dr. Megan Phelps grew up locally in Farmland, IN and attended Purdue University for both her undergraduate and veterinary degree's.  After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Phelps moved to Virginia and practiced medicine there for three years before returning to Indiana in the summer of 2005 to work at Alexandria Animal Hospital.  Currently, Dr. Phelps lives with her two cats (Newton and Copernicus) as well as her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Fennik.  As far as her human family is concerned, Dr. Phelps is the proud aunt of Ethan and Sophia Mortonson.

  • Teresa Wilhelm, Receptionist

    Teresa has a huge heart and loves to help both people and animals.  After graduating from AMHS, she quickly became a CNA and enjoyed caring for nursing home patients.  Teresa came to the AAH in 1992 and has become known as a helping face at the reception desk.  She takes great pride in decorating the clinic for the different seasons.  Taking a brief leave from the clinic to have a family, she loves to spoil her 3 daughters and 7 grandchildren.  She enjoys arrowhead hunting and fishing.  Teresa shares her home with her husband Benji, 2 cats and 4 dogs including 3 shar-pei mix puppies.

  • Alexis Bassett, RVT, Inventory Manager

    Alexis is originally from Michigan but moved here as a youngster.  Living in Alexandria with her husband Chris and their 3 children, she enjoys gardening and spending time outside with the many critters on their farm.  Horses, donkeys, goats, emus, turkeys, and chickens, as well as 2 dogs and 5 cats all call Bassett Family Farm home!   After studying at Purdue University, Alexis joined the staff at AAH in 2002 and became a licensed RVT in 2012.  She also enjoys volunteering within our community and serves as a co-chair member of the Indiana Veterinary Technician Association.

  • Jean Rice, Veterinary Assistant

    Jean loves her job and is great with our patients and boarding pets!  She says that getting to take care of pets is a dream come true for her and can't imagine a better position to have.  At home she spends a lot of time outside with her 5 dogs- Rosco, Betty, Jack, Jill and Izzy, and 1 cat named Punk.  She loves to garden, harvest, and can everything.  She enjoys having family dinners and cookouts.  After 35 years of marriage, her husband's family is her family.

  • Debbie Reeves, Receptionist

    Debbie has worked in Customer Service for 20+ years.  She has combined this experience with her love for animals and has become part of our amazing front desk team!  Debbie lives in Elwood with her  husband, Dave, her three dogs- Lucky, Sassy, and Gizmo, and their cat- Miss Kitty.

    Debbie is a member of the Heart of Hoosierland Humane Society Board.  She spends her free time cooking, gardening, and spending her time with her family and her two grandkids.

  • Karla Hunt, Veterinary Assistant

    Karla was raised in Fishers, Indiana, and moved to the rural Elwood/Frankton area in 1995.  She shares her mini-farm home with her husband of 33 years, Dan, and 6 four-legged kids (subject to change at any time!)  She has 2 sons, 1 daughter, and 2 precious granddaughters.  Her favorite time is spent with her family (both 2 and 4 legged) and at church where she helps with the youth and other special activities.  In her spare time, she loves drawing, painting, crafts, gardening, and taking care of animals.  After spending the last 17 years in education, she is finally living her dream of learning veterinary care and getting to take care of animals for a living.

  • Clint Peacock

    Clint was raised on a grain and show pig farm in Fairmount, Indiana and is a 2015 graduate of Madison-Grant High School.  In 2018, he graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences.  Currently, Clint is a 2nd year DVM student at Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine.  He has spent his last three summer breaks, and soon to be four, wearing a variety of hats at our clinic, including veterinary assistant, receptionist, and kennel attendant. Outside of the classroom, Clint is the proud owner of his adopted Domestic Short Hair cat Ophelia, and currently serves as the President of the Purdue chapter of the Student American Veterinary Medical Association.

  • Kristen Cleaver

    Kristen is from Summitville, Indiana and graduated from Madison-Grant High School.  Since her junior year in high school, we have been fortunate to have her work part time in the clinic as a kennel attendant and a veterinary assistant during the holidays and summer.  She is currently attending Purdue University and plans to graduate in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences.  At Purdue, she is involved in the Animal Sciences Ambassadors and does undergraduate research on swine.  In her free time, Kristen enjoys playing golf, tennis, and cooking.

  • Kendall Wolf, Receptionist/Veterinary Assistant

    Kendall grew up in Michigan and moved to Frankton, Indiana in 2018.  She lives with her fiance and three dogs- Spot, Sox, and Scarlett (all pit mixes).  In her spare time she likes to go to the gym, camp, and spend time with family and friends.  She currently attends college and is studying to be a radiologist technician specializing in radiation therapy.

    Sabrina grew up in Eaton, Indiana and has lived in Alexandria for about six years.  She is happily married to Ty, and have four beautiful children (Austin, Reanna, Prestyn, and Skyla.)  She is a lover of all animals big and small.  She has two dogs- Sedona and Reggie, and a cat- Vito, and two fish tanks.  In her spare time she enjoys golfing, woodworking, and collecting antique toys.

  • Brittany Coe, RVT

    Brittany has been working in the veterinary field since 2008.  She is local to the area, having graduated from Pendleton Heights. She was a 9 year 4-H member.  She graduated from her veterinary technology program 2012.  Her special interests include emergency cases and behavior/training.  She is currently continuing her education in companion animal behavior and training.  Outside of work, she competes in dog events such as conformation, obedience, and rally.  She enjoys being outdoors (hiking and fishing).  She also volunteers with the Madison county K-9 club in the summer time.  She married her husband, Lee, in April 2017.  Together, they have 6 dogs and 2 bunnies to round out their family.

  • Julie Brashears, Receptionist

    Julie grew up in Frankfort, Indiana and moved to Anderson in 2003.  She resides with her dog Bella, and five cats- Pennee, Poppee, Pearl, Satch"Mo", and Moonepie.  She started in human medicine, but quickly realized her passion was animals.  She has worked in the veterinary field for 15 plus years.  Special interests include cat behavior, reading, and international travel with her daughter Sheradan.
